Did the SPOT watch have Bluetooth?

As far as I know they have some FM radio receivers (for news, data, etc.) but no bluetooth.

Bluetooth was probably only a twinkle in someone’s eye when the original SPOT watch was around. Certainly wasn’t a ubiquitous connection method like it is today.

Actually, Bluetooth was invented 10 years prior to SPOT. It’s amazing it took so long to catch on. It certainly wasn’t in the SPOT watch, though.

I think the standard was ahead of its time, hardware-wise. Even Intel, who was involved in the creation of Bluetooth, chose an alternative wireless system for their wireless keyboards and mice. I believe they cited battery life as the main driver then, but I don’t remember for sure.

Certainly anyone who used any of the early Bluetooth software stacks on Windows knows that the software took some time to “mature”.
