“Mr Frog has a new friend” in y Gymraeg (Welsh)

Wales was the first foreign (to me) country that I ever decided to take time off work, pack up my bicycle, fly to the airport and just head out to explore, back in 1994. I ended up cycling just over 500 miles, almost the complete coastline, from Cardiff to Bangor, along the coast, camping in farmer’s fields.

The Welsh language is truly bizarre, lol.

Mmmmm, I’d be more impressed if you could pronounce this.

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

Welsh is pronounced with different rules. It’s pronounced “Salt Lake City”

It’s not so hard:

“The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio’s of the red cave”

I remember the rather crude comedian Chubby Brown stating that his man hood had that Welsh railway station tattooed on it… Rhyl
