Mouse buttons double clicking with single click

Being a heavy PC user with both work and home on the same machine, I’ve gone through number of mice in the last few years and now my latest Rapoo one is showing the same issues. I purchased this in May last year so has last about 1 year.

The left mouse buttons causes double clicks to be detected by Windows and is becoming a pain the rear.

My previous use of Logitech ones resulted in the same issue but with about 6 to 8 months use. This Rapoo Wireless one has lasted longer. I’ve considered replacing the switch but having a hard time finding it. I am also considering swapping the unused middle one over and may do that in the coming days.

Has anyone had the same experience and found a mouse that lasts far longer?

I have a Logitech MX series that has served me well. It’s now looking a bit worn but still functions perfectly after 4+ years.

I’ll check it out.

How heavy a user of the left mouse button itself are you?

I use it heavily with 3D CAD and PCB design so the left mouse button gets quite a workout.

I checked out the MX. I had one and it lasted about 1 year before I got the dreaded double click issue.

time to pull things apart and check debounce characteristics

I had same problems with my two mice (Logitech 305 and Logitech 505). First time I disassembled micro switch and managed to fix it based on some internet tutorial. When double clicks returned I bought these http://www.ebay.com/itm/4PCS-OMRON-Micro-Switch-Microswitch-D2FC-F-7N-Logitech-MS-Razer-Apple-Mouse-/261794351525?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cf428c9a5 and after some play with soldering iron I successfully replaced them and both mice still works.

There are heaps of stories and fixes for this issue as it is pretty much common.

I removed the cover and adjusted the springy bit and it seems to be stable again. Not sure for how long though.

Those OMRON switches look the same so I may grab a few to keep them handy. The mouse itself is really comfortable to use so replacing the switches would be ideal. Bit expensive though but certainly cheaper than a new mouse.
