ISOx16 Relay. Am I stupid?

Yes, he is talking s*%t

Actually, in your defense, the GHI documentation on this board is very poor. They only have a schematic for the little board that plugs into the relay board. There is no mention of the 12V power to the relay board in the overview or the developers page.

Assuming the board has the standard relays they will draw 37.5mA each so if all relays could be on, you need a minimum of 600mA of current. I suggest you use a 1A or higher 12V power supply.

Below is the link to the relay board used and there is a PDF link on there.

Yes he is full of it. Being an electrician will give you some electrical knowledge, but plans and schematics are drastically different. You will need to connect power and ground from 12V to the terminal block connectors. This is because the coils in the relays used in this board require 12V to switch.

If you do not need 16 outputs, we offer a relay X1 module that uses 5V to power the coil.

We provide schematics for what we create, which is the board that bridges the module to Gadgeteer. The developers guide should cover any extra leg work that is required, if not I will be sure to fix this as soon as possible.

Guys, THANK YOU for helping me out. I was able to go to Radio Shack, get a 12VDC 1.5A converter, snip off the head, strip the wires, attach it to the terminal and it all works.

I had to look up that the wire with the white stripes on it was the positive, but the multitester helped me figure that out.

Thanks again!

Carl

9007-05-01 is the one I bought. Here’s the Digi-Key link: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/9007-05-01/306-1063-ND/301697
