IoT Labs WiFi module

Hope you have me listed for two modules.

@ PiWi - I do

As I prepare the examples for the IoT Labs WiFi SDK, I’d like to ask what everyone would like to see in the form of documentation besides just the examples. Is a full API document for each object in the SDK desired? What format, PDF or CHM? Other ideas?

Given the outpouring of frustration over the changes to the GHI documentation, and in some cases the total absence of documentation, getting this right will be a challenge. I commend your approach for asking for ideas. I would think in the end you’ll be asked for it all.

I would benefit from a collection of useful examples showing the functions first, and then as people try and do more and more with the modules I add details of the SDK’s method calls, parameters, etc.

Good luck and great work on the module.

I mostly agree with Jason.

A lot of dox is already on the BlueGiga site free to download (after registration)

For details visit https://www.bluegiga.com/en-US/products/wifi-modules/wf121-wifi-module/

P.S.: Maybe it is worth it to put it on codeplex or better yet go and ask for publication on the new www.netmf.com site and get a bit of marketing

@ PiWi - The docs on the Bluegiga site are great, but I have written the driver around their API and it is mostly hidden from the NETMF developer. So their docs will be of little use. There are high level classes that implement specific functionality (e.g. Webserver, SNTP) and the lower level driver API which all the high level classes use.

@ munderhill - I found them of use for background information, to understand to reason behind the eventual problem, but it’ll most likely won’t directly document your API or the use of the BGAPI.

How is your software publication taken place ?

I.e. what comes with the wifi card ?

@ PiWi - The SDK including the documentation will be available for download from iot-labs.net.

cool - thanks.

Did you perform a long running test for the network stability against some cloud ?

Referring to the 2570 magical number mentioned in the Great Network Shootout https://www.ghielectronics.com/community/forum/topic?id=14607

@ PiWi - @ Justin did a test at the beginning of this forum entry, reporting he had over 6000 sends without any issues and I believe he got much higher in some of his tests, but I can’t remember the exact number.

Here is the other test that @ Justin did, reporting over 300K calls to a webservice!

… hm, that are non-ghi boards … probably Oberon FW, that worked quite well in what the Duke tested too …

However, there were some observations when using boards of another manufacturer … I will experience that when I get to it … hopefully not …

thanks for the links though.

It’s a gaggle of gadgets! Modules are built for all the people who ordered them! I need to do some testing and final firmware needs to be loaded before I ship them to the four corners of the earth.

Looking very good…Can’t hardly wait to put those to the network test…BTW My cobra I use ran fine for the last 16 hours and with 1900+ iterations of inserts on azure … and no errors or memory losses seen so far, stil going strong … looking forward to test that on the wifi modules …

Don’t forget to list it here https://www.tindie.com/m/gadgeteer/

@ munderhill - Yes, I got my modules !
Very well done !

But where I can find drivers ?

Thank you Andre

Ahahah

I was afraid of that…

@ dobova - The SDK is available for download from http://iot-labs.net/sdk/il-g-wf121sdk.zip

Enjoy!
