I’ve been playing with the GPRS module on my FEZ Spider. Is it possible to ftp a file from an SD card? I can send and receive text messages fine and make calls. I’m just trying to work out how I can ftp some files up and interact with GPRS. Do I need to tell the device my apn details, username passwords etc…
Does anyone have any pointers?
There’s two things about your request, it’s best to take them separately first up.
Your first challenge is to get the Spider on the network via the GPRS module. There should be examples of how to do that on codeshare; I’ll have a look after this and see if i can find one that will help you get this sorted. Once you have the ability to be on the network (resolve say an external DNS name, do a HTTP GET from a URL) you are ready to proceed.
Then you need an FTP client. Skewworks has done an FTP client. I’ll find a link and post that. That will then let you take your file from your SD card and FTP it somewhere.
Actually, Skewworks did an FTP server not client.
Looks like this might be a working client (although on an old thread and it was talking about performance issues that the poster never talked more about). http://www.tinyclr.com/forum/topic?id=5115
And http://www.tinyclr.com/codeshare/entry/485 is a GPRS network device. There isn’t an example that uses GPRS specifically with the Gadgeteer module.
Thanks for taking the time answer my question. I will have a play around this week and I will let you know how I get on.
