No, you were absolutely right. You do need to know which pin is analog on gadgeter A socket, because not all of them are. So if you are using analog eBlock sensor you have to plug it into the right spot on eBlock extension module and then plug eBlock extension module into A socket on a Gadgeteer module.
I just wanted to make clear that pin layout of any Gadgeteer socket of the same type is the same as well. It is defined by the Gadgeteer specification and is not implementation specific.
