Well, quantum computers may be a consumer reality in 10 years, if the 512 qubit (quantum bit) D-Wave Two processors live up to their claims. Currently, there are two computers in use outside of the Canadian Lab. One has been given to USC and Lockheed Martin, and the second to NASA and Google.
Over the last 9 months, there has been a drastic increase in papers and articles written that either prove or disprove whether or not the D-Wave is actually harnessing quantum entanglement for computing. Only time will tell if standard physics can truly explain the effects at work in the D-Wave.
