FEZ Hydra update interups

Gentlemen

I try to update my Hydra V1.2 and I’m folowing the steps described here: https://www.ghielectronics.com/docs/125/firmware-update-fez-hydra

I’m struggleing at step “Loading Bootstrap” because it fails or hangs. The output is

The process doesn’t open the notepad with the logfile, so I assume, the process is still running.

Does anyone of you have the same issue and a solution of it ?

Kind regards
Josch

Yes I have.

I added a 32kHz cristal for the RTC, this is the only variant.

It is a Window 8 64bit physical machine.

I powered it throw two USB ports and both are USB2 ports, and yes I have tried different ports.

Kind regards and thanks a lot.

So, a new PC helps and the TinyBooter is installed sucessful. The next step is to load the firmware (TinyCLR). I connected the pin 9 on socket 14 to ground and pressed reset, release it and disconnect the wire between pin 9 and ground.

I’m able to select the “FEZ Hydra_Gadgeteer” as an USB device in FEZ Update and MFDeploy. But I cannot ping the Hydra in both, the FEZ Update reports an “
Ping… No response from device.” and the MFDeploy reports an “Pinging… NoConnection”.

After the ping, the “FEZ Hydra_Gadgeteer” is not longer selectabele in the dropdown onla a reset or replug helps.

Has anyone an idea ?

Thanks a lot
Josch

what firmware was deployed to the device? There are two types, Ethernet and Non Ethernet. If you use the Ethernet version then you must have an ENC28 connected to socket 3.

I’m not able to upload the Firmware, I’m only able to upload the TinyBooter.

Josch

Dear all

I’m definitly confused, after some trials on different PC’s it works. I’m note sure, if it was/is an issue with a wire or plug.

Thanks for all your time,
Josch
