FEZ Hydra Firmware Updater (ver. RC2 8-24-2012) exception

When I start Hydra Firmware Updater it gives:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Does it create any potential risk for my future projects or should I just ignore it and make the update?

Looks like a week old thread.

Did you resolve the issue?

Anyways, it looks like Updater can’t find the value in the registry. Reinstalling the SDK might help.

yes good point, this one seems to have slipped past us.

Two things.

I guess the updater could do with catching this issue (failed to find the registry key that identifies the SDK path, according to the function name)

For Stratovarius, is this error repeatable? Are you an admin on the box, and were the SDK installs all done as admin? In my opinion, you certainly should be concerned about not updating your firmware. I would then go and manually install the firmware rather than use the updater, see http://wiki.tinyclr.com/index.php?title=Firmware_Update_FEZ_Hydra that way you know you have the right version of the firmware on your device.

It seems I also forgot this (: I solved this problem by installing step 4 which indicates “optional” , although I don’t know technical details about how installing sdk optional 4.1 solved the issue…
