FEZ Cerberus and FEZ Cerb40, small low-cost open source .NET Gadgeteer mainboards

Hello Kurtnelle,

FEZ Cerberus software is in still development.
http://www.ghielectronics.com/catalog/product/349
The FEZ Cerberus software is still incomplete. GHI is cleaning up the sources and getting the firmware in a alpha stage. We expect to have a beta firmware available by the end of March 2012.
Please see this page for software status and contributions.

Will it be possible to do any development at all before this is released? I have a Cerb40 coming, so I’m wondering if I can do anything at all with it yet?

It ships with the alfa firmware. Remember that you need to install NETMF 4.2 SDK if you would like like to play with it.

So the NETMF 4.2 is all I need. Thanks!

Until we get the eagle files for the Cerb40… does anybody have a 40 pin DIP socket Eagle part? All I can find that is close is for PIC chips. TIA.

Those will work fine

@ ransomhall : you can try this : http://www.tinyclr.com/forum/12/6177/#/1/msg59231 (reply 3)

Cerb40 in the field 8)

how do we know that LED was flashing ???

Do not forget the current limiting resistor

Just open and close your eyes really fast and you can see it flash

Nah - photoshop! ;D

And how do we know that’s in a field? Doesn’t look like natural light…

Har D har har…

It wasn’t blinking… I stuck it in there to show there was power to the board. This particular led has a built in resistor and can handle a range of voltages (good for model train stuff). I have some that also blink on their own, but that would have really been cheating…

I can confirm spotted in the wild both of mine arrived today.

Mine too. It’s such a cute little monster!

So, umm, Gus, my Cerberus is in the mail(thanks millions by the way) but it will still be two weeks before it arrives. BUT I have a Cerberus on my desk NOW that is a bit lacking in personality and all that. Can’t I load the alpha image onto my Cerberus V1.0 board?

Yes you can. One thing, check the crystal, if it is 8Mhz, replace it with 12Mhz.

Great! ;D

Already replaced the crystal with 12MHz.

Where do I get the firmware? And how do I place it in bootloader mode? It diesn’t have the BOOT jumper…

Is there anything we can do (NETMF codewise) with these boards while waiting for the SDK?
