I don’t see anything that would limit you from using the Cerb 40 II for commercial uses. Maybe you could be a bit more specific about what you’re requesting. Do you mean you would want it in the same package as the EMX & G120 w/o the USB connector? Otherwise, what’s to keep you from using it?
Cerb 40 is in the SoM category, that’s all commercial i believe.
The Cerb40 will always use the same firmware as the Cerberus, and it’ll always enumerate as not-for-commercial. You will likely need to approach GHI directly rather than via the public forum, to understand how they can assist you.
You’re right, of course. GHI should add a note to the Cerb40 product page about this since like @ Darko I would immediately assume anything on the SoM page to be OK for commercial uses unless specified otherwise. Personally, I vote for a G120 style package for the Cerb. It would be great for small projects.
Cerb40 II is already smaller than G120: 940mm^2 vs 1017mm^2.
It could be made even smaller, though, as you note. Better as an SOM would be to lose the regulator again as well as the USB port. With a smaller crystal, you might be able to cut it down to somewhere in the 400mm^2 or less range.
Thanks for all the replies,
I have been using GHI products since 2011, especially the panda 2 and fez mini designs. However, I have been giving the cerb 40 II a try lately and I like it a lot, one of the product we currently producing required constant updates and improvements due to customer requests. I am deciding to switch the product to .netmf from PIC (we have more C# developer here than C), so I am thinking of using the cerb 40 II or the g120.
I notice when doing firmware upgrade and .netmf upgrade I see ‘non-commercial’ message pop up so I thought it is for use strictly as personal development but not for commercial products.
Anyone care to clarify this?
Thanks
