EMX dev system Maximum input voltage

Hi,

The EMX dev system’s DC input is marked 6V. According to the schematic of the dev system the 5V regulator is a LM1117MP-5.0 and according to this unit’s datasheet it has an absolute maximum input voltage rating of 20V and an operating input rating of 15V, but when I connect 9V to the DC jack the 5V regulator gets extremely hot extremely fast.

So my question… What is the GHI specified maximum rating for the dev system.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

6V as the board indicates. Higher voltages will overheat the regulator. 7.5v may work.
