EMX board goes back to bootloader 1.02

My second (and last) box with the EMX board inside ‘died’ just now. It comes up as a COMport device, shows 1.02 in Terraterm. No matter what I try, it does not seem to accept the upload of the TinyBootloader at all.

I tried through TerraTerm, it seems to upload the file to EMX, but ends with loads of the prompt characters BL line after line, I have to scroll back to see that shows: File Transfer Successfully.
When I press R in Terraterm I get “Bad Firmware”

When I use the EMXUpdater utility, I see the following:

EMX found at Port#: COM6
GHI Bootloader Version: 1.02

Device will be updated automatically! DO NOT disconnect or turn off the device!
Erasing…
Erase successful!
Updating TinyBooter. Please wait…
Update successful!
Disconnecting COM6
Rebooting…
No response from device

Can someone tell me what do do now?

Connect tera term and run the update manually. Show us the complete output. Probably the flash got damaged due to static or high noise on power lines

Sound rather drastic to me that both boxes die at the same time, under the same conditions we have been testing quite some weeks already. When what you say is true…

I attached the log file of Teraterm and renamed it to GIF to be able to attach it…
