Building commercial products with Gadgeteer, a price-verifier kiosk

The flexibility of .NET Gadgeteer, and having ever-expanding list of offers from GHI Electronics, greatly lowers the R&D and the risks involved in building commercial products. Proxima Software shared their price-verifier kiosk with us.

I’m working on a kiosk prototype for price verifier and fidelity check points for the retail environment. The project is based on FEZ Hydra and CP7 Display, the board read the item/card barcode using an opticon serial oem scanner and pick-up the data from the back-end using a wcf rest service. The source data for the back-end service is the shop cash server. In the project I have used:

• FEZ Hydra
• RS232 Module
• Ethernet Module
• SD Module
• CP7 Display
• Opticom serial barcode reader NLV1001

Depending on volumes, the final product can be produced while still keep using the individual gadgeteer modules, economical for making hundreds, or merge all modules on a single circuit board, economical for making thousands of units.

Very important to see a commercial release like this one !

It justify the choice we also made when starting R&D based on NETMF and GHI Products…I hope we’ll be ok to present our product soon also…

Very nice project, a great example of the use of Hydra.
