That’s what happens when every movie projector on the planet is run 24/7 all weekend for very happy Star Wars fans!

UGH now it is 97F/36C

I saw The Force Awakens at 1PM on the 17th here in ChCh (4 days ago) with my son… snuck away for a long lunch hour

One of the first showings in the world (outside of LA) and the theater/theatre was only half full

That is one thing I don’t miss about California… huge movie lines…

$18 ??? Ouch.

We paid the equivalent of $2.18 each to see the movie here. 6 of us went and including the popcorn and the drinks the total was $22

Wow… You don’t want to know what it cost to take the four of us to see it (on IMAX 3D of course…). I believe the popcorn bill alone was more than that. And I would gladly do it all again!

You won’t want to see this then Ian for our Imax 3D prices. Starts from $3.6 weekdays with Friday $4.30 and Sat and Sun $5.40 equivalent.

$18 NZD is about $12 USD. That’s pretty much on par with what I paid in california. And it is the more expensive of the local theaters.

It’s only $10NZD/($6.75 USD) at one of the cheaper theaters

Its just that the more expensive one was only 10 min from my office, with no lines, and a half full theater (no one else in our row at all, or any of the rows in front of us, or the row directly behind us), which was nice

Now… the concession prices… those are outrageous…

AU$21 per adult, equaling about US$15. For regular theatre. VMAX and 3D is $28 (US$20+), Gold Class 3D is $30 (US$22)

Well, I would say you’re lucky except I’ve seen your shipping rates and those hurt a lot more often than theater rates

Very true. It has some advantages living here but import costs are hell, that’s for sure.

Went to see the movie last Friday. Paid $31.28 for two adult and one child tickets. Will go again to see it in IMAX 3D in a week or so.
