2015 R1 SDK Installer -- 4.3 SDK Lands In 'Program Files (x86)'

SDK Installer Team…

I run a tight ship on my stable of dev boxes for various reasons…customizing where files land is a part of it…

  • Paths in custom build tools remain valid
  • Desktop shortcuts that make me productive remain (largely) unchanged
  • Good practice to know your development tools

So it’s frustrating to see the ‘NETMF v4.3 SDK’ folder (et. al.) land in ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\GHI Electronics’ despite my having specified another location, this while the ‘NETMF v4.2 SDK’ folder does land in the custom folder specified.

This begs the question “WHY ASK IF THE TARGET WILL BE IGNORED”?

If this is a bug and you intend to maintain previous installer customization functionality, my bad, I’ll stop barking at you…Otherwise, perhaps remove the Advanced “choose you own target directory” option and give in to the “this is where we want it, users suck it up” trend…

@ SIM - The files should definitely be installed where you specified under Advanced. We will take a look for the next beta and see why they went somewhere else.

Thanx much John…

@ SIM - This is fixed for the next beta.
